Complaints and Appeals Policy
Córima, Journal of Research in Cultural Management, has a procedure to receive, address, and resolve complaints and appeals related to its editorial process, in accordance with the principles of academic integrity, impartiality, confidentiality, and transparency. This policy applies to authors, reviewers, readers, and any person involved in the journal’s editorial processes.
Complaints Complaints are considered to be disagreements related to unjustified delays in the editorial process, communication failures, possible undeclared conflicts of interest, inappropriate treatment, non-compliance with editorial policies, or any other situation that affects the integrity or fairness of the process. Complaints must be submitted in writing, with a clear statement of the facts and, if possible, supporting documentation.
Complaints will be received by the Editorial Directorate or through the journal’s institutional email. When the complaint directly involves a member of the editorial team, the case must be referred to a higher authority or the corresponding collegiate body to ensure an impartial review.
Appeals Appeals are appropriate when an author considers that an editorial decision regarding their manuscript did not comply with the journal’s policies, was based on substantive evaluation errors, or was affected by irregularities in the process. Appeals must be submitted in writing, with clear academic arguments and sufficient evidence to support the request for review.
Submitting an appeal does not guarantee modification of the original decision or acceptance of the manuscript. The journal may request a new editorial assessment, a review of the file, or, when necessary, the opinion of an additional reviewer.
Procedure All complaints or appeals will be acknowledged within a reasonable time and analyzed by the competent editorial body. The journal will seek to issue a reasoned response as quickly as possible, based on the available evidence and its editorial policies.
If the case requires broader review, the journal may consult the Editorial Board or external specialists, while preserving confidentiality at all times. In complex situations, the journal may rely on international guidelines and best practices in editorial ethics.
Resolution The resolution of a complaint or appeal will be communicated in writing to the interested party within 30 working days. The decision issued by the journal will be final within the internal editorial scope, without prejudice to the possibility that the interested party may resort to other institutional or ethical bodies when appropriate.
Córima considers complaints and appeals to be part of a responsible and transparent editorial system, and will address them with seriousness, respect, and adherence to its ethical principles.
